Bracket Buster on the field.

DARC SIDE's robot for FIRST Steamworks, Bracket Buster, went through many key changes during the 2017 season. Originally including mechanisms for fuel collection and shooting, Bracket Buster weighed in at almost 120 pounds. After the first of the four events the team played at, Bracket Buster was stripped of its fuel capabilities, and was redesigned to focus more on gear delivery. PID control for straight driving and vision-based autonomous modes were the next things to be added, which led the team to be eligible to compete at both the state and world championships.

Features:
  • Passive gear collection and delivery system
  • Innovative dual-CIM climber
  • Mecanum drivetrain
  • Side and center gear autonomous

Dropkick launching a cube.

DARC SIDE's robot for FIRST Power Up, Dropkick, has been doing very well so far this season, winning one district event and recieving the Quality Award at the other. We hope to continue to improve our robot in preparation for both the state and (hopefully) world championships.

Features:
  • 6-CIM drivetrain capable of not only speeds up to 15 ft/s, but also pushing other robots across the field
  • Versatile intake which can recieve cubes in any orientation automatically by use of an IR sensor
  • Pneumatic cube launching mechanism which can fire cubes into switch, scale, and exchange
  • Motion profile based autonomous capable of both switch and scale
  • 8 air tanks for maximum pipe organ aesthetic
